Ultra Sound - Eight months ago, I had my annual mammogram and they spotted something so I had to go back in for a biopsy. This came back as Benign but they still want to watch it. So October was my 6 month check up and another ultra sound. Once again it came back ok. I would not have this comfort if it wasn't for the ACA. This allows me to afford healthcare as a self employeed person. The only stress I have is whether our elected officials believe my life has any value and if I deserve to have health insurance.
Doctor Frankie Lizar- For the past three years, Frankie has dedicated her life to getting her doctorate. This road was not an easy one! Frankie is the Principal for the Freshman academy for Turner High School. So she works a lot of hours! Then add in more school work and that doesn't sound so bad. But life does go on and throws you curve balls. I would be lying if I said that she had an easy time. Heck, I would be lying if I said, I had an easy time. Watching one of your best friends have to go through so much isn't easy! I do hope that me being there was more of a help then another curve ball. My analogy is like being pregnet for three years and suffering many complications. Then after giving birth or defending your paper, and then it's over. The life you had become accustom to is instantly gone. Now you must regroup and figure out who are you are and what happens next. I am extremely proud of Frankie for setting goals and accomplishing them. Now, I am ready to see what kind of trouble I can get into with Doctor Frankie Lizar!!
Keen Meeting - My friend Rebecca Miller has been inviting me to attend an ABWA KEEN meeting. I finally was able to attend! I really need to get out more and network. I use to attend meetings every week but they got boring and redundant. Plus so many people get paid to go to these meetings and nothing really would happen. I don't get paid, in fact I sometimes loose money since I am not working. So, when I attend, I expect to leave knowing more than when I arrived. This might be a long shot but a girl can dream!
Dead Battery: I go to my car to head to work and it is dead to the world. Without any thought, I call AAA to get a jump. Within an hour, my car was running but my battery was not feeling well. Luckily they carry batteries so he was able to replace the battery right there! If you do not have AAA you should really look into getting it. While I was waiting, I went to their website and found out that they also have Identity Theft Monitoring for free with my membership. Add the discounts you can get and it is a pretty sweet deal!!
Jason's Bday: Kolton and I wanted to take Jason out for Sushi for his birthday. I don't eat sushi but Kolton loves it. We picked the new place, Mizu. It was really good food.
Steak Dinner - The tradition continues. A group of friends and family joined me for my free steak dinner at the North Star Steakhouse! Every year new people attend. I never know who will make it! Always a good time though!!
Pot Luck Dinner - For the past sex years I invite 200 people to my house for a end of summer pot luck dinner! One year only two people showed up besides my family. This year we had a great group. I even had two of my guy friends from Lenexa come!! The food was amazing and the company is always awesome!
Kansas City Chiefs Game Home Opener - Excited about the new season, we got up early and headed to the stadium. I will not waste my time retyping the parking experience. You can read it HERE! Once we did get to the tailgate party, the fun began! My friends from Atlanta were in town for the game! The tailgate food theme was Philly cheese steak sandwiches. We didn't have much time to hang out before we headed into the game! The weather was awesome and the game was exciting! The chiefs won!
Lenexa Chili Cook Off - This is my second year attending this freaking huge event. HUNDREDS of teams come together to make their special chili! Friday night is more of a social time. I was not drinking Friday night since my car was there and so was Toms. This is his one over do it night a year so I decided that I would play the part of the DD. Plus, I didn't want to hurt on Saturday. Saturday we arrived back around 8 and started to make the chili. One of their teams actually got second place for their chili! It really isn't about the ribbon as much as it is about hanging out with friends and having a good time!!
New project - I can't go into details but big things are happening! BAM!! More to come!!
Dog Sitting - Another week with the little dogs in Topeka. We all had a fun time! By fun time, I mean I worked and they layed around and slept. :)
Decorating for Fall- My friend Teri text me to see if I would go to Skinners with her to buy some flowers for the front of her house. She was actually hoping I would say no but I did not. I get to her house and she says we have to wait for a delivery and if I was busy, we didn't have to go. I told her, I was not busy. We unloaded the truck and then headed to Skinners. I have to be honest. This was my first trip to Skinners. Now I am friends with the owner but I am not a big flower person. I mean, I would but I have never really made enough money to spend it on flowers to make my outside look pretty. I normally would grab some at the pop up flower lot but I found Skinners pretty cool! They had tons of stuff! Teri found her flowers and they looked great.
Kimtober - October is now known as Kimtober. A month of fun birthday stuff! I mean, I have fun all the time but I blame it on my birthday in October!
Fall Trip to Atlanta - It wouldn't be fall, if I didn't go to Atlanta! This week, we had tons planned! Eating at my favorite restaurant, Matthew's Cafeteria. We went to see The King and I at the Fox Theatre. I did my first 5K and ended up on the 50 yard line of the new Football/Soccer stadium, Mercedes Benz Stadium. We tried many new restaurants! Everything was very fun. One night, Rob cooked Pesto Chicken Pasta for dinner! Daman made some amazing Spaghetti for a small gathering which was followed by Cards Against Humanity! The next day we just chilled at home an watched movies. Daman grilled delicious juicy hamburgers! On Monday, they both had to work so I stayed home with Bastian, their dog and worked on the newsletter! I am blessed to be able to work from anywhere! This trip ended in October! I already miss my Atlanta family!!
